The Anglo-Saxons

Are these sentences True or False?

  • The English language begins with a phrase 'Up yours, Caesar', which is a very rude phrase and usually goes together with a rude gesture.
  • After Germans leave Britain, a lot of Roman tribes start flooding in.
  • Tribes like the Angles and the Saxons gave the term Anglo-Saxons.
  • The Romans left some very straight roads behind but not much of their Latin language.
  • The Anglo-Saxon vocab was very useful, as they were mainly words for simple everyday things like 'house', 'woman', 'loaf' and 'wolf'.
